And yet, somewhere between the group texts, school drop-offs, endless mental lists, and trying to raise good humans in a complicated world, so many of us have found ourselves feeling surprisingly alone. Hearth & Hope is a place to come back to connection.
We’re building a community for mothers who care deeply—about their children, their families, their communities, and the kind of world we’re creating together.
A place where we can talk honestly about motherhood without pretending we have it all figured out.
Where mental health matters and friendship is worth making time for.
Where caring for ourselves means more than finding twenty minutes for a bubble bath.
And where we remember that caring for one another is part of caring for our families.
Hearth & Hope brings mothers together for thoughtful conversations, meaningful connection, reflection, and collective care. Through discussion groups, resources, gatherings, and eventually local communities, we’re creating spaces where moms can:
Connect
Build genuine friendships with women who understand this season of life.
Reflect
Make space for the parts of motherhood that don't always get talked about.
Heal
Explore mental health, identity, relationships, and the complicated feelings that come with becoming and being a mother.
Grow
Reconnect with your values, your sense of purpose, and the person you are becoming alongside your children.
Care
Move beyond the idea that self-care is something we do alone—and toward a culture where mothers care for one another.
You don't have to be the mom who has it all together.
There are no right answers you need to arrive with, and you don't have to know exactly what you're looking for.
Just come as you are.
There is room here for the joy and the exhaustion, the gratitude and the grief, the certainty and the questions. You can bring the parts of motherhood you love deeply, along with the parts you never expected and aren't quite sure what to do with. Whatever season you're in, you don't have to navigate it alone.
Come find your people.
Welcome to Hearth & Hope.
Hearth & Hope began with a simple belief: Mothers deserve community, too.
Motherhood doesn't need another stream of advice or another list of things we're supposed to be doing. We don't need spaces that leave us comparing our messy, complicated lives to women who seem to have figured everything out.
What we need is somewhere to sit down, exhale, and say, “This is a lot, right?”A place to talk honestly about both the beautiful and difficult parts of motherhood. Somewhere friendships can grow, questions can be asked without judgment, and there's room to think deeply, laugh, learn, and remind one another that none of us was meant to carry motherhood entirely on our own.
Hearth & Hope brings together the parts of life that so often get separated: motherhood, mental health, spirituality, relationships, identity, purpose, and community. After all, motherhood doesn't happen in a vacuum. The way we're feeling affects the way we show up for our families. Our relationships shape our mental health. The values we hold influence how we parent, while the communities around us influence how we live. And underneath all of it is something we don't talk about nearly enough: support matters.
Having people who see us, listen to us, and help carry the weight can change how we experience motherhood. Hearth & Hope exists to make space for all of these pieces—to explore them honestly and hold them together in community.
A hearth is the heart of a home—the place where people gather, warm themselves, share stories, and feel a sense of belonging. Hope is what we carry toward the future: the belief that things can change, that we can grow, and that the world we're creating together can be better than the one we inherited. Together, those words capture what we want Hearth & Hope to feel like:
A warm place to land.
A place to connect.
A place to remember that things can be different.
Hearth & Hope is for mothers who want more from the motherhood conversation than advice about schedules, routines, and finding the perfect balance. Maybe you're the mom who loves her children fiercely and still sometimes needs a break. Maybe you're raising compassionate, curious humans in a complicated world and want a community that understands why that matters.
You might be thinking deeply about how we care for ourselves, our families, and the people around us. You may be missing the kind of meaningful friendship that feels harder to find after becoming a mother. Perhaps you're still figuring out who you are while learning how to be someone's mom, too. And if you're tired of being told that everything would be easier if you simply learned to “balance it all,” you're in the right place.
Hearth & Hope is for mothers who are ready to build something different—together.
My name is Becca May, I'm a mother, a licensed mental health therapist, and a believer in the power of being truly known by other people.
I've seen how much mothers carry—and how often we are expected to carry it quietly.
I've also seen what happens when people have a place where they can be honest, feel understood, and experience genuine connection.
Hearth & Hope grew from a desire to create more of those places for mothers. This isn't about creating a perfect version of motherhood, it's about creating a community where we can be honest about the real thing.
My hope is that Hearth & Hope becomes more than a website or an Instagram account. I envision a growing community where mothers make real friends, gather regularly, support one another, explore meaningful questions, and find ways to care for their families and their communities together. A place where, when someone says, “I'm a part of Hearth & Hope,” it means something. It means I have people and maybe, sometimes, that's exactly what we need.
I'm so glad you're here.

Community is better when we make room for one another. Some connections happen around a kitchen table. Others happen from the couch after the kids are finally asleep.
At Hearth & Hope, we want to make space for both. Our gatherings are designed to help mothers find connection in ways that actually fit into real life. Sometimes that means logging onto a virtual meetup in your pajamas. Other times, it means showing up at a local park with your kids in tow and meeting someone new.
There is no one right way to belong here.
Motherhood doesn't always leave much room on the calendar, and we don't think meaningful community should require a babysitter, a long drive, or a perfectly free evening.
Our virtual meetups offer a flexible way to connect with other Hearth & Hope mothers from wherever you are. Some gatherings will be casual and conversational, while others will have a little more structure—creating space to talk through the real stuff, learn from one another, and feel a little less alone.
Come when you can. Stay for as long as you can. Bring your coffee, your baby, your messy living room, or the exhaustion of a long day.
You don't have to have everything together to show up.
For mothers in the Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio areas that are ready to get out of the house, Hearth & Hope will also create opportunities to connect face-to-face. These gatherings might look like:
Casual Get-Togethers
Coffee, conversation, walks, dinners, and low-key opportunities to make the kind of friendships that are hard to build through a screen.
Support Groups
More structured, facilitated spaces for honest conversation around the experiences and challenges of motherhood. These gatherings are designed for connection and support—not perfection.
Community Projects
Opportunities for mothers and families to put our values into action through volunteering, service projects, and caring for the communities around us.
Kid-Centered Gatherings
Because our children are part of our lives, not obstacles to them. Expect playground meetups, story times, family activities, nature outings, and other ways for kids to have fun while their grown-ups connect, too.
Whether you're joining us from your living room or gathering around a table with other moms, the hope is the same:
To create places where we can show up as we are, find people who understand, and build something meaningful together.
You don't need to know anyone before you come.
You don't need to be particularly outgoing.
You don't need to have the right words. Just come.
We'll save you a seat.
Hearth & Hope is more than a place to read about motherhood. It’s a place to belong to it together.

We believe community shouldn't be reserved for the moms who can most easily afford it. That's why we've created a membership option built around collective care.
For the above monthly contributions, you receive your own full Hearth & Hope membership and help make membership possible for another mom who can't afford it right now. You get everything included in the Hearth & Hope Member option of your choosing—and your additional offering helps open the door for another mother to join us. Because sometimes caring for mothers looks like checking in on a friend. Sometimes it looks like bringing dinner. And sometimes it looks like saying, “There's a place for you here. I'll help save you a seat.”
We don't want financial circumstances to be the thing that keeps a mother from finding community. At the same time, we want Hearth & Hope to be a sustainable community that can grow thoughtfully and continue creating meaningful experiences for its members.
The Give-a-Membership option allows those two things to exist together. Some moms will have the ability to contribute a little more. Some will need a little help getting through the door.
That's not a problem to solve. That's community.
As Hearth & Hope grows, we'll use the support from Give-a-Membership members to make sponsored memberships available to mothers who need them. No judgment. No hierarchy. No questions about whether someone is “deserving.” Just mothers taking care of mothers.
Your membership isn't simply paying for access to a website You're helping build something.
My dream is to build a thriving community of mothers that take care of themselves, each other, and the community around them. I am working to find the balance of being able to commit as much time and energy as I can to making this space helpful and beneficial while never wanting that benefit to come down to financial circumstances.
I want to make a big impact and I have a feeling if you made it this far, you do too.
We're starting here. But we're building toward something much bigger.
You don't need to know anyone. You don't need to have it all together. You don't need to be the mom who has all the answers. You just need to be willing to show up!
